When to use it
- Users exist but growth doesn't take off
- Before building an MVP
- The team debates features without agreeing on the customer
What you give it
- Who it's for and who uses it
- Needs and their evidence
- Features and alternatives
- Usage, retention and UX feedback
What you get
A five-layer table with grades, needs by importance and satisfaction, the value proposition, feature fit and MVP, the lowest weak layer, and the next test.
How it works
- Write the target customer hypothesis
- List underserved needs
- Write the value proposition
- Check the feature set
- Check the UX
- Grade each layer
- Plan the next test
Example
What you give it
We built a shared shopping-list app for families in Brazil. 3,000 sign-ups from an Instagram campaign; 9% still use it after a month. Features: shared lists, recipe import, price comparison across supermarkets, meal planner, barcode scanner. We think it's for 'busy parents'. Interviews: 6 people, 4 of them said the price comparison was the only reason they'd pay. Support tickets mostly ask why prices are out of date. We have no data on who the 9% are.

| UX | — | tickets about out-of-date prices | weak |
