How to share prompts in Microsoft 365 Copilot
In Microsoft 365 Copilot you save a prompt after it runs, then open the prompt gallery, go to Your prompts and choose Share prompt, then Share to team, to share it with a Microsoft Teams team in your organization. Teammates find it under Team prompts in Copilot Chat, and Microsoft's help says prompt sharing needs a Microsoft Copilot (work or school) license. A shared prompt is text each person picks and runs inside Copilot, so for people who work in Claude or ChatGPT, such as contractors on their own accounts, write the method as a skill and share it through AI Skill Pod, which reaches their Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise) from one invite link; the pod's connect steps don't cover Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Short answer
- Save it: Save prompt, after it runs.
- Share it: Your prompts, Share prompt, Share to team.
- Find it: the Team prompts tab, then the team.
- Outside Copilot: a skill in each person's own AI.
Share a prompt with a Teams team
- Run the prompt in Copilot Chat. Hover over it and select Save prompt; you can rename it, such as "Interview summary".
- Open the prompt gallery in Copilot Chat, Teams or Outlook, and select Your prompts.

A Copilot team prompt or a skill
| Copilot team prompt | Skill in a pod | |
|---|---|---|
| Who gets it | Members of one Microsoft Teams team | Everyone who joins the pod, contractors on their own email |
| How it's used | Each person picks it and runs it | The AI uses it when a request matches, or by name |
| Where it works | Microsoft 365 Copilot | Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise) |
| What it needs | A Microsoft Copilot (work or school) license | The person's own AI |
A worked example: recruiters in Copilot, contractors in Claude
Illustration: a made-up business. A recruitment team of six works in Microsoft 365 with Copilot licenses, and two contract recruiters work from their own Claude accounts. The team lead:
- Saves the "Interview summary" prompt after it gives a good summary, and shares it to the Recruiting team, where the six use it from Team prompts.
- Writes the same method as a skill, with the description "Summarizes an interview from the notes: strengths, gaps, salary expectations and a recommendation. Use after a candidate interview."
- Adds the skill to the team's pod and sends the two contractors the invite link, so Claude uses it whenever they ask for an interview summary.
When the client wants notice periods added, she changes the skill and shares a new version of the team prompt that day.
AI Skill Pod is this site's product. Pod pricing: Free up to 3 members and 10 skills; Team $5 per seat a month from 3 seats.
Next step: make the skill
The prompt your team saves is a good start for a skill. How to make your first Claude skill from a doc you have walks through the first one.

Questions
How do I share a prompt in Microsoft 365 Copilot?
Run the prompt and select Save prompt. Then open the prompt gallery in Copilot Chat, Teams or Outlook, go to Your prompts, hover over the prompt, select Share prompt, then Share to team, and choose a Microsoft Teams team. To send it to one person, select Copy on the prompt instead and paste the link into a chat.
Where are the prompts my team shared in Copilot?
Under the Team prompts tab of the prompt gallery: select the team and you see every prompt shared with it. Microsoft's help puts Team prompts in Copilot Chat; the prompt list in Word, Excel and PowerPoint shows Microsoft's prompts and your own.
Can people without a Copilot license use a shared prompt?
Microsoft's help says prompt sharing is available with a Microsoft Copilot (work or school) license, and team sharing goes to a Microsoft Teams team in your organization. For contractors or colleagues who work in their own Claude or ChatGPT, share the method as a skill to that AI instead.
