Claude skills for customer support: the five to set up first

The Claude skills a support team gets most from are five: triage of incoming tickets, replies in your team's tone, bug reports engineers can act on, notices during an incident, and an FAQ built from the questions that keep coming back. Each is a short set of instructions Claude loads when an agent's request matches its description, filled with your team's own examples, severity levels and phrases. Write each once and share it through AI Skill Pod, and every agent gets the same version in their Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise) from one invite link, the outsourced night shift included.

Short answer

  • Triage and replies: every ticket.
  • Bug reports: when a ticket goes to engineering.
  • Incident notices: when something breaks.
  • FAQ: monthly, from the tickets.

The five skills

SkillThe agent asksPut in from your team
Ticket triage"Triage this morning's queue"Your categories, severity levels with examples, who each goes to
Reply in our tone"Reply to this refund request"A short tone guide, three good replies, phrases you never use, when to hand over
Bug report from a ticket"Make this a bug report"Your tracker's fields, what counts as steps to reproduce
Incident notice"Status update, payments are down"Your stages, what you never promise, who signs off
FAQ from tickets"FAQ from last month's tickets"Where the help center lives, your product's terms

A worked example: an agent's morning

Illustration: a made-up business. Mia works support for a booking app for hair salons. At 9:00 she has 40 new tickets.

  • 9:05 "Triage the queue." The triage skill sorts them into billing, bugs and how-to, marks two as high severity and routes the bugs.
  • 9:20 "Reply to this refund request." The reply skill answers the question first, in the team's warm and short tone, and offers the refund the policy allows, nothing more.
  • 10:10 "Make this a bug report." The salon's complaint becomes steps to reproduce, expected and actual behavior, and the app version.

The night-shift partner uses the same three skills in ChatGPT, so customers get one tone whichever shift answers.

AI Skill Pod is this site's product. You can start on Free at $0, with no card, for up to 3 people and 10 skills; after the 14-day trial, your team stays on Free unless you buy Team ($5 per seat a month from 3 seats) or Business.

Set them up

  1. Pick the first skill by where agents lose most time; often replies or triage.
  2. Collect three real examples from your best agent, and the phrases the team never uses.
  3. Write the skill: a name, a description in agents' own words under 200 characters, the steps and the examples.
  4. Test it on ten real tickets before the whole team gets it.
  5. Add the next one once agents use the first without reminders.

Next step: the whole team on the same version

A skill in one agent's Claude helps one agent. Getting every agent and the outsourcing partner on the same version is a sharing question: the best ways to share AI skills with a team compares the options.

Questions

What Claude skills should a customer support team set up first?

Usually five: ticket triage, replies in the team's tone, bug reports from tickets, incident notices, and an FAQ from repeated questions. Start with whichever takes the team longest today, which is often replies or triage.

How do I make Claude reply in our support team's tone?

Write a skill with a short tone guide and three real replies your team is proud of, the phrases you never use, and when to hand over to a person. Claude uses it whenever an agent asks for a reply that matches the skill's description.

Can the whole support team use the same skills?

Yes. On Claude Team or Enterprise an owner can provision them for everyone. If some agents use ChatGPT or work for an outsourcing partner, a pod gives everyone the same skills in their own AI.

AI skill

Have your AI turn support tickets into an FAQ

Put this skill in AI Skill Pod and everyone on your team gets it in their Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise): one invite link, free to start. FAQ from support tickets has your AI turn a month of tickets into an FAQ: questions grouped by what customers really ask, how often each comes up, an answer for each in plain words, and the gaps your help center doesn't cover yet.
