Guide
Claude skills for marketing: start with your brand voice
The first Claude skill a marketing team should set up is its brand voice: a guide built from three to five of your best texts, which Claude applies whenever anyone asks for copy. After that, add a content brief, social posts from an article, ad copy variants and a campaign review. Each skill holds a method plus your brand's real examples; campaign files and results go in projects, because they change every campaign while the voice doesn't.
Short answer
- First: a brand-voice skill from your best texts.
- Then: content brief, social posts from an article, ad variants, campaign review.
- Skills hold the method and voice; projects hold each campaign's files.
- Test every skill on real briefs before the team uses it.
Five skills, in the order to build them
| Skill | What it does | Put in from your team |
|---|---|---|
| Brand voice | Rewrites any draft in your voice | 3 to 5 best texts; words you never use |
| Content brief | Turns a topic into a brief a writer can start from | Your audience, a past brief that worked |
| Social posts from an article | Cuts one article into a week of posts | Each channel's length and format; posts that performed |
| Ad copy variants | Writes variants to test, each on one angle | Claims you may and may not make |
| Campaign review | Reads results and says what to change | Your targets and how you count a conversion |
A worked example: one article, a week of posts
Illustration: a made-up business. A 3-person marketing team at an outdoor-gear shop publishes a guide on choosing a winter sleeping bag. The social lead asks Claude: "A week of posts from this article for Instagram and LinkedIn."
Two skills load. The social-posts skill splits the article into five angles (temperature ratings explained, down vs synthetic, a customer's question, a myth, a buying checklist) at each channel's length. The brand-voice skill rewrites each in the shop's voice: short sentences, no exclamation marks, "we" for the shop, never "epic". The social lead edits two posts and schedules them. Before the skills, the same week took her an afternoon and read like three different brands.
Build the brand-voice skill
- Pick three to five texts that sound most like you: a newsletter, a product page, a well-received post.
- Extract the traits: what you do and don't do, with an example pair for each.
- Add a word list: words you use, words you never use.
- Save it as a skill with a description like "Use when writing or editing any marketing copy".
- Test it on three drafts from different people; it should make them sound like one brand.
Next step: one voice across the team
A voice that lives in one person's Claude isn't a brand voice. Everyone writing copy, including the agency and the freelancer, needs the same skill: the best ways to share AI skills with a team compares how. For more skill ideas by function, see Claude skill examples for business.

- MarketingSocial posts from an articleTurns one article into a LinkedIn post, an X thread, and a short post, each hooked on the article's most specific point.
- MarketingAd copy variants with a test matrixWrites Google Search, Meta and LinkedIn ad variants within character limits, one angle per variant, with a test matrix for each.
Questions
What Claude skills are useful for marketing?
A brand-voice skill first, because every other piece of content depends on it. Then a content brief, social posts from an article, ad copy variants and a campaign review. Each should carry your brand's examples, not generic advice.
How do I make Claude write in my brand voice?
Give it three to five texts that sound most like you, and turn the traits it finds (do and don't pairs, a word list, sentence habits) into a skill. Claude then applies it whenever someone asks for marketing copy.
Should campaign files go in a skill or a project?
A project: campaign briefs, results and assets change per campaign. The skill holds the method and the voice, which stay the same across campaigns.
