Claude skills examples for business, by team
Good Claude skills for a business are the tasks a team repeats every week with a method it can write down: a weekly client report, a first sales email, meeting minutes with actions, a month-end checklist, a job post, a reply in your support tone. Below are examples for six teams, plus Anthropic's own example skills. Pick your first three by how often the task repeats and how much time it takes, not by how impressive it sounds.
Short answer
- A good skill: repeats weekly, has a method, has a checkable result.
- A poor skill: a one-off, or a judgement call with no method.
- Start with three, chosen by frequency and minutes saved.
- Write each from your best person's way of doing it, with real examples.
Examples by team
| Team | Skill examples |
|---|---|
| Sales | Account research, first email, call notes to CRM, deal review |
| Marketing | Brand voice, content brief, social posts from an article, ad variants |
| Operations | Meeting minutes with actions, a procedure from a screen recording, weekly status update |
| Finance | Month-end close checklist, budget variance note, payment reminder |
| HR | Job post, interview questions, onboarding plan |
| Support | Reply in your tone, FAQ from tickets, incident notice |
| Anthropic's examples | Brand guidelines, internal communications, document co-authoring; built-in skills for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF |

A worked example: picking the first three
Illustration: a made-up business. A 14-person bookkeeping firm lists 22 tasks people repeat. It scores each on two numbers: times a month, and minutes each time.
| Task | Times a month | Minutes | Hours a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Month-end email asking clients for documents | 60 | 12 | 12 |
| Query about an unclear transaction | 90 | 6 | 9 |
| Monthly summary for each client | 40 | 25 | 17 |
| Proposal for a new client | 3 | 90 | 4.5 |
The proposal felt like the obvious skill, because it's the most visible. The numbers put it last. The firm builds the monthly summary, the month-end email and the transaction query first: 38 hours a month of work with a method its best bookkeeper can write down.
