Gemini Gem examples for work, and the same Gems as skills

Good Gems for work each do one task you repeat: meeting notes into decisions and actions, client replies in your tone, a weekly status report, a job post, an expense check. Write each one as a skill before personal Gems turn read-only on 17 November 2026: keep the Gem's task and format as numbered steps and an output template, fold its persona and context into those steps, and add a description that starts with when to use it, under 200 characters so the same file works in Gemini and Claude. Then share the skills with the team through AI Skill Pod, where everyone gets them in their Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise) from one invite link.

Short answer

  • One task per Gem, and one per skill.
  • Task and format become steps and a template.
  • A "Use when" description makes it load by itself.
  • Under 200 characters works in Gemini and Claude.

Five Gem examples, as skills

The GemThe skill's name and description
Meeting notesmeeting-minutes: "Turns meeting notes or a transcript into decisions, actions with an owner and a date, and open questions. Use when someone shares notes from a meeting."
Client repliesclient-reply: "Drafts a reply to a client email in our tone, answering first. Use when a client's email needs an answer."
Weekly reportweekly-client-report: "Writes a one-screen weekly status report from notes. Use when asked for a client's weekly update."

One example to copy

Illustration: a made-up business. A small accounting firm's "Client replies" Gem said, in Google's four areas: you are a friendly accountant (persona); reply to client emails (task); we serve small shops, never give tax advice by email (context); short paragraphs, end with the next step (format). As a skill:

---
name: client-reply
description: Drafts a reply to a client email in the firm's friendly, plain tone, answering first and ending with one next step. Use when a client's email needs an answer.
---

# Client reply

1. Answer the client's question in the first sentence, in plain words.
2. Keep it to two or three short paragraphs, warm but not chatty.
3. Don't give tax advice by email: say we'll cover it at the next meeting and offer a time.
4. End with one next step: who does it, and by when.

## Output
Subject: [Re: the client's subject]
[The reply]
[Name], [Firm]

The description is 158 characters, so the same file uploads to Gemini and to Claude. The persona became the tone in step 2; the context became step 3.

Share the skills with the team

  1. Before 17 November, write each Gem the team relies on as a skill and download its SKILL.md.
  2. Add the skills to AI Skill Pod under Add a skill, Move from a GPT or a file, and invite the team.
  3. Teammates in Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise) get them from the pod; on ChatGPT Business and Enterprise an admin or owner adds the pod first. Teammates who stay in Gemini upload the SKILL.md.

AI Skill Pod is this site's product; it keeps a skill's instructions, not its files. Pod pricing: Free up to 3 members and 10 skills; Team $5 per seat a month from 3 seats.

Next step: Gems or Claude skills

If part of the team works in Claude, see what carries over and what doesn't. Gemini Gems vs Claude skills compares the two.

Questions

What are good Gemini Gem examples for work?

Gems that do one task you repeat: summarizing meeting notes into decisions and actions, replying to clients in your tone, writing a weekly status report, drafting job posts, and checking expense claims against a policy. Each works better as a skill, because Gemini can apply a skill in any chat when the request matches.

How do I turn a Gem into a skill?

Keep the Gem's task and format as numbered steps and an output template, move its context into the steps or a file, and add a description that starts with when to use it. Google recreates personal Gems as skills on 17 November 2026, but a rewritten description is what makes the skill load by itself.

Can the same skill work in Gemini and Claude?

Yes, if its description fits both: Gemini allows up to 1,024 characters and Claude 200 for an uploaded skill, so keep it under 200. Both read the same SKILL.md file.

AI skill

Have your AI turn a prompt that works into a skill your team can reuse

Put this skill in AI Skill Pod and everyone on your team gets it in their Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise): one invite link, free to start. Paste a Gem's name, description and instructions, and Turn a prompt into a skill has your AI rewrite them as a skill: a description that says when to use it, numbered steps from your instructions, an output template and checks.
