How to share a Claude Project with your team, and what to do on Pro

You can share a Claude project on Team and Enterprise: open the project, click Share to the right of its name, add people from your organization by name or email, choose Can view or Can edit, and click Share, or open it to everyone in the organization under General access. On Free, Pro, Max and Ultra, Claude's pricing page lists no project sharing, so the closest you get is sharing one chat with specific people, who see a snapshot they can't reply to or continue. Sharing a project shares its knowledge and instructions; your chats in it stay private unless you share each one. If your team is on personal plans, put the project's instructions in a shared AI Skill Pod once, and each person uses them in their own Claude, ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise) or Cursor.

Short answer

  • Team, Enterprise: Share, add people, Can view or Can edit.
  • The whole organization: General access.
  • Free, Pro, Max, Ultra: no project sharing.
  • Chats: private unless you share them one by one.

Share a project on Team or Enterprise

  1. Open the project and click Share, to the right of the project name.
  2. Add people from your organization by name or email. To add several at once, paste a list of emails into Add people or groups. On Enterprise you can add a group instead (in beta), once an admin turns on Share resources with this group for it.
  3. Pick a permission. Can view: see the project's contents, knowledge and instructions, and chat in it. Can edit: also change the instructions and knowledge and update member settings.
  4. Click Share. Each person gets an email with their permission level, and the project shows up under Shared with you on their Projects page.

To open the project to the whole organization instead, click Share and, under General access, change Only people invited to Everyone at [your organization]; colleagues then find it in the Organization tab. To take someone off, a member with Can edit opens Share, clicks the role next to the person's name and selects Remove access.

What a shared project carries, and what it doesn't

  • Shared: the project's contents, knowledge and instructions.
  • Not shared: your chats in the project, even in a project open to the whole organization, until you share a chat yourself.
  • A shared chat is a snapshot of the messages up to that point, artifacts included. Attached files are left out unless the sharing stays inside your organization, and recipients can't reply, copy it into their account or continue it. Update shared chat refreshes the snapshot.
  • On Team and Enterprise, chats are shared only with addresses on the organization's domain, and public links aren't available.

A worked example: the tutors on Pro who couldn't share a project

Illustration: a made-up business. Northbeam is a small maths tutoring company whose tutors each pay for their own Claude Pro. The founder, Priya, keeps a project called "Parent progress notes" with a marking rubric and these instructions:

You write the fortnightly progress note to a student's parents from the tutor's session notes.
Open with one thing the student can now do that they couldn't before.
Grade each topic with the rubric's four levels: Secure, Nearly, Working on it, Not started.
Name one thing to practise at home, with a 10-minute task.
No percentages, no comparing with other students.
Under 150 words, signed by the tutor.

A new tutor asks for the project. Pro has no project sharing, and moving to Team would put everyone on a new plan. So Priya asks the prompt-to-skill skill to turn the instructions, with the rubric's four levels written in, into a skill. It begins:

---
name: parent-progress-note
description: Writes a tutor's fortnightly progress note to a student's parents from session notes - one new thing the student can do, each topic graded Secure, Nearly, Working on it or Not started, one 10-minute task to practise at home, under 150 words. Use when a tutor shares session notes and asks for a progress note, a parent update or "what do I tell Sam's parents".
---

# Parent progress note

Parents read this to know what changed and what to do at home, so it starts with progress and ends with one task, never a score.

## When to use
- A tutor has session notes and needs the parents' note.
- Not for school reports or messages about fees.

## What you need
- The session notes since the last note. If a topic has no evidence, grade it "Not started" and say why.

She adds the skill to Northbeam's pod and sends the invite link. Each tutor connects their own Claude once, keeps a project of their own for their students' files, and asks for "a progress note for Sam's parents" in any chat. The pod holds the skill, not the rubric's PDF, so the full rubric stays in each tutor's project.

Next step: share the instructions, not the project

What a team wants from a shared project is for everyone to work from the same instructions. On personal plans, put them in a shared pod once, and each person uses them in their own Claude, ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise) or Cursor: share AI skills with your team. What belongs in a project and what in a skill is in Claude Projects explained.
