Guide
How agencies deliver their method to clients as AI skills
An agency can deliver its method to clients as AI skills that run on the client's own Claude or ChatGPT: your reporting format, the brand-voice guide you built for them, your content process. Package each as a skill in the open format both products read, then deliver it either as a file the client uploads or from a skill library their AI connects to; the library keeps them on your latest version and lets you end access when the contract ends. Assume the client can read every word, and keep back what you wouldn't hand over on paper.
Short answer
- What to deliver: the method your client repeats after you leave the meeting.
- Format: a skill both Claude and ChatGPT read.
- Delivery: a file, or one copy their AI connects to.
- Keep out: pricing, other clients' data, internal notes.
Why workspace sharing doesn't reach clients
Claude shares skills inside one Team or Enterprise organization; ChatGPT shares them inside one Business, Enterprise, Healthcare or Edu workspace. Your client is in neither: they have their own accounts, on their own plans. You could buy them seats, but then they juggle two accounts and you pay for people who already pay for AI. Delivering to their own account avoids both.
A worked example: an SEO agency's monthly report
Illustration: a made-up business. A 7-person SEO agency spends two days a month writing reports for 15 clients. Clients keep asking "what should we do this month?" between reports. The agency packages two skills for each client:
- "Monthly SEO report": the agency's format (what changed, why, what to do next), its thresholds for "worth acting on", and one anonymized past report as the example.
- "Brief a blog post": the agency's brief template, the client's audience, the words the client never uses.
Clients run both in their own Claude or ChatGPT between meetings. When the agency changes its thresholds after a Google update, every client's AI uses the new ones the next day, because they read one copy rather than a file sent in March. One client is on ChatGPT Plus. OpenAI doesn't list ChatGPT Plus for custom MCP connectors. So he gets the skill as text to keep in a project. The agency charges for the skills as part of the retainer and removes access when a contract ends.
Package and deliver
- Pick what the client repeats between your meetings: a report, a brief, a check.
- Write each as a skill with a name, a "use when" description, steps and one anonymized example.
- Remove what you'd keep back: rates, other clients, internal shortcuts.
- Test it on the client's real material in both Claude and ChatGPT.
- Deliver one copy their AI reads, with an end date, and tell them what changed when you update it.
Next step: choosing how to deliver
Clients are on different AIs and plans, so the delivery route matters more than the file. Giving contractors your skills covers the same mechanics from the other side, and sharing outside a ChatGPT workspace covers clients who used your custom GPT. On ChatGPT Business, only an admin or owner of the client's workspace adds the connector, so agree who does it at the start. AI Skill Pod delivers to clients' own Claude, ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise) and coding agents, from Free (up to 3 members and 10 skills).
Skills for this
- AI practiceTurn a prompt into a skillTurns a prompt that works into a skill the whole team can reuse, with a valid name, a when-to-use description, steps, an output template, an example, and checks.
- Operations and adminWeekly client status reportWrites a one-screen weekly client report: status with a reason, what you need from the client, done, next, and metrics against target.
- MarketingBrand voice guide and rewriteExtracts a voice guide from 3 to 5 sample texts (traits with do and don't pairs, a word list, mechanics) and rewrites a draft in it.
- Legal basicsContractor agreement checklistChecks a freelancer or contractor agreement for scope, IP assignment, confidentiality, payment, termination, and misclassification signals.
Questions
How can an agency share an AI assistant with a client?
Package the method as a skill, the open format both Claude and ChatGPT read, and deliver it to the client's own account: as a file they upload, or from a skill library their AI connects to, which keeps them on your latest version and lets you end access.
Will the client see my agency's instructions?
Yes, assume so. Anyone whose AI uses a skill can ask it to show the instructions. Put in the method you're happy to hand over; keep pricing, other clients' data and internal notes out.
Can I charge clients for AI skills?
Many agencies include them in a retainer as part of the deliverable, or as a setup fee. What you sell is the method and keeping it current; the file alone is easy to copy.
AI skill
Have your AI turn a prompt that works into a skill your team can reuse
Put this skill in AI Skill Pod and everyone on your team gets it in their Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise): one invite link, free to start. Turn a prompt into a skill has your AI turn the method you'd hand a client into a clean skill: a name, a 'use when' line, the steps and one example they can run on their own account.
