Claude Enterprise vs ChatGPT Enterprise: what each adds and how you buy it
Claude Enterprise and ChatGPT Enterprise add much the same controls to their team plans: SCIM, audit and compliance tools, data retention controls and finer roles, and neither trains on your data by default. Both can also give skills to some groups only: Claude Enterprise through a plugin assigned to a group, ChatGPT Enterprise through a plugin made available or installed for a custom role, and roles can be assigned to groups. The differences are how you buy, since Claude Enterprise can start self-serve, priced per seat plus usage at API rates, while ChatGPT Enterprise goes through sales, and where skills are managed. If people on both need the same methods, keep one copy of each skill in AI Skill Pod, which reaches everyone's Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise) from one invite link.

A worked example: the security review decides
Illustration: a made-up business. A 120-person engineering consultancy outgrows Claude Team: its security review asks for SCIM from its identity provider, audit logs and a retention period it sets. Its developers like Claude Code, and its account teams already use ChatGPT. The IT lead:
- Writes the must-haves first: SCIM, audit logs, a retention period, and skills given to a group, not to everyone.
- Starts Claude Enterprise self-serve for engineering, since engineering wants Claude Code and both plans meet the four must-haves, and asks OpenAI's sales team for a ChatGPT Enterprise quote for the account teams.
- Keeps the shared methods in the pod, such as the proposal and project-report skills, so both groups use the same copy whichever plan they end up on.
AI Skill Pod is this site's product. Pod pricing: Free up to 3 members and 10 skills; Team $5 per seat a month from 3 seats.
Before you ask for quotes
- List the controls you can't do without, from your security review, not from the vendors' pages.
- Count who needs which tool. Not everyone needs an Enterprise seat on both.
- Ask each vendor the same questions on retention, audit exports and how skills and plugins are approved.
- Price the term, including Claude's usage at API rates, from current quotes.

Questions
What's the difference between Claude Enterprise and ChatGPT Enterprise?
On admin controls, little: both add SCIM, audit and compliance tools, retention controls and finer roles over their team plans, and neither trains on your data by default. The differences are how you buy, since Claude Enterprise can start self-serve while ChatGPT Enterprise goes through sales, and where each manages skills.
Can you buy Claude Enterprise without talking to sales?
Yes. Claude's pricing page offers Enterprise self-serve as well as sales-assisted, billed annually, priced per seat plus usage at API rates, with a seat minimum. Invoicing and net terms come with the sales-assisted version.
How are skills managed on each Enterprise plan?
On Claude Enterprise, owners provision skills for everyone, or for a group through a plugin assigned to it, and members' submissions need review if an owner sets Requires review. On ChatGPT Enterprise, skills sit in the workspace and in plugins, and a plugin can be made available or installed for a custom role, which can be assigned to a group. A team that uses both can keep one copy of each skill in a pod.
