Claude Max vs Team: which to buy when you want to share
Claude Max and Claude Team answer different questions. Max is one person's plan: everything in Pro with five times Pro's usage, for someone who works with Claude all day. Team is for 2 to 150 people. It adds central billing and admin, SSO, projects you can share as view or edit, skills an owner deploys to the whole organization, and no model training on your content by default. Team seats come in two sizes, Standard (more usage than Pro) and Premium (five times a Standard seat). If the goal is sharing, Max can't do it, however much usage it has; Team can, and Premium seats cover the heavy users.

A worked example: a 4-person studio
Illustration: a made-up business. In a 4-person design studio, the two partners each pay for Max and the two designers use Free. The partners want one set of client projects and the studio's proposal skill for everyone. They agree the criteria and weights first:

Before cost, Team leads clearly, on sharing and on client data. The partners fill the cost row from the pricing page for 24 months, and agree to move if the two-year cost difference is within what the designers save in reworking proposals over the same two years.
How to decide
- Ask whether anyone needs to share a project or a skill. If yes, it's Team.
- Count heavy users; they get Premium seats, everyone else Standard.
- Check who handles client data; on Team it isn't used for training by default.
- Price both on the day, for your seats, over the contract term.
- Move one client project first and share it, to see the difference.

What is the difference between Claude Max and Claude Team?
Max is one person's plan: everything in Pro with five times Pro's usage. If you want to share projects or skills, Max can't do it; Team can.
Can I share projects or skills on Claude Max?
No. Anthropic's help says project sharing is on Team and Enterprise, and the Share and Publish to org controls for a skill are on Team and Enterprise too. On Max, projects and skills are yours alone.
Does Claude Team have as much usage as Max?
It depends on the seat. A Team Standard seat has more usage than Pro; a Premium seat has five times a Standard seat's usage. Anthropic's pricing page lists Max at five times Pro. Compare the seats you'd need on the day, with the page's current figures.
