Claude organization skills: how owners give skills to the whole team

On Claude Team and Enterprise, an Owner uploads a skill under Organization settings > Plugins & skills and it turns on for everyone at once; members can switch it off for themselves but can't delete it. Members can also publish their own skills to the organization library, which goes live without review by default on Team, and on Enterprise where skill security scanning is on, unless an owner sets Requires review; on Enterprise, owners can also give skills to chosen groups. Organization skills reach your organization's Claude, and Claude Code when people sign in with their claude.ai account; to reach Cursor, ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise) and contractors on their own accounts as well, share the same skill through AI Skill Pod, from one invite link.

Short answer

  • Owners provision: on for everyone at once.
  • Members: can switch one off, not delete it.
  • Publish to org: usually no review (Team, and Enterprise with scanning on); set Requires review to approve each one.
  • Enterprise: skills for chosen groups.

From Claude's help, read 5 November 2026. The publishing policy (Open, Requires review or Off) is on the Policy tab of Plugins & skills. Enterprise can give skills to groups by putting them in a plugin assigned to a group.

Provision a skill for everyone

  1. Check the Policy tab in Organization settings > Plugins & skills: code execution and Skills must be on.
  2. Choose Add, then Upload a skill and pick a .zip with a SKILL.md, or Create a skill with a name and a description.
  3. Tell the team it's there. It appears in each person's skills list, switched on.
  4. To retire it, open the Inventory tab, filter Source to your organization, and choose Remove from library on its row. Anthropic's help describes removing a provisioned skill, not editing it.

A worked example: two skills for a support team

Illustration: a made-up business. A 30-person software company on Claude Team wants every support agent to use the same refund-reply and bug-report methods. The head of support, an Owner:

  1. Provisions the two skills for the whole organization, after testing them on five real tickets.
  2. Sets publishing to Requires review, so a skill an agent submits waits for her approval before others see it.
  3. Puts the same two skills in the company's pod for the outsourced night-shift team, who work in ChatGPT on their own company's workspace.

AI Skill Pod is this site's product. Pod pricing: Free up to 3 members and 10 skills; Team $5 per seat a month from 3 seats.

Questions

How do I add a skill for my whole organization in Claude?

As an Owner on Team or Enterprise, open Organization settings, then Plugins & skills, choose Add, then Upload a skill and pick a .zip with a SKILL.md, or Create a skill. It turns on for everyone at once. Code execution and Skills must be on in the Policy tab first.

Can members turn off or delete an organization skill?

They can switch it off for themselves but can't delete it. To remove it for everyone, an Owner removes it from the Inventory tab in Plugins & skills.

Can members publish a skill to the whole organization?

Yes, unless publishing is off. With Publish to org, a member submits a skill to the organization library. On Team it publishes without review by default. On Enterprise the default was Requires review, but since 4 November 2026 it's Open where skill security scanning is on, so a skill appears once it passes the scan. An owner who wants to approve each one sets Requires review on the Policy tab.
