Guide
Can Notion guests edit pages? Guest permissions explained
Yes: a Notion guest can edit a page when you give them Can edit or Full access, and only Full access also lets them share it with anyone. Guests open only the pages they're invited to, along with those pages' sub-pages, and on a database page Can edit content lets them add and edit entries without changing the database itself. Give each guest the lowest level the work needs, and if a freelancer also needs your way of working in their own AI, share it as a skill through AI Skill Pod, where one invite link reaches their Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise) without another Notion page.
Short answer
- Edit: Can edit or Full access.
- Share: Full access only.
- Comment or read: Can comment, Can view.
- What a guest sees: invited pages and their sub-pages.
Notion's access levels for a guest
| Level | Edit | Share | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full access | Yes, any content | Yes, with anyone | For a guest who should invite others |
| Can edit | Yes | No | The usual level for a guest who works on the page |
| Can edit content | Entries and their properties | No | Database pages only; not the properties, views, sorts or filters |
| Can create | New entries only | No | Database pages, Business and Enterprise; can't open entries they weren't given |
| Can comment | No | No | Comments only |
| Can view | No | No | Reads only |

Four things a guest should know
- Sub-pages come along. A sub-page takes its parent's permissions, so check what sits under a page before you invite a guest to it.
- The broadest access wins. If a guest is given Can view in one place and Full access in another, Notion gives them Full access.
- A guest can ask for more. With Can view or Can comment, a guest opens Share and chooses Request edit access, which goes to the page's creator.
- A guest needs their own Notion account, and can't connect Notion MCP, so their AI can't read your pages that way.
A worked example: a freelancer as a client's guest
Illustration: a made-up business. A freelance copywriter writes product pages for a homeware shop, which invites her to its Notion as a guest on her own email address. She asks for:
- Can edit content on the "Product copy" database, so she adds and edits drafts without touching the shop's views and filters.
- Can view on the brand guide, since she only needs to read it.
- Can comment on the launch calendar, to flag dates that don't fit.
Before she starts, she checks her agreement for who owns the drafts and what happens to the shop's materials when the work ends. Her headline method, which the shop likes, she keeps as a skill in her own pod and offers to deliver to the shop as a skill when the contract renews.

Next step: deliver your method as skills
If clients ask for your way of working, not just the work, you can hand it over as skills. Agencies: deliver your method to clients as AI skills shows how.

Questions
Can Notion guests edit pages?
Yes, if you give them Can edit or Full access on the page. With Can comment they only comment, and with Can view they only read. On a database page, Can edit content lets a guest add and edit entries without changing the database's properties, views, sorts or filters.
Can a Notion guest share a page with other people?
Only with Full access, which Notion describes as editing any of the page's content and sharing it with anyone. Can edit lets a guest change the page but not share it. Give Full access only to a guest who should invite others.
Can a Notion guest see the rest of the workspace?
No. Guests are added to individual pages, not the whole workspace, and get the sub-pages of a page they're invited to unless you change those. A guest also can't connect Notion MCP, which only workspace members can.
AI skill
Have your AI check a contractor agreement before you sign
Put this skill in AI Skill Pod and everyone on your team gets it in their Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT (Pro, Business, Enterprise): one invite link, free to start. Contractor agreement checklist has your AI check the agreement behind the invitation, whichever side you're on: the scope, who owns the work, confidentiality and the return of materials, payment, how it ends, and signs the work is really employment, quoted clause by clause.
